Often called rustic, cowboy, cabin, or mountain style, this theme reflects the great American Wild West.  Rustic, natural decorative elements are used to create the rugged, outdoorsy feeling of a western ranch. 

Natural materials are central to any western-style decorating scheme.  Rock, wood, and metal are the main ingredients in creating western style.  Unique, stylish western theme décor can be hard to come by, but since Design Style Guide specializes in Handmade Home Décor, it's the perfect place to find wood and metal accessories and western-themed wall art.

If you like western décor, then think rough, textured, tactile fabrics—like wool and leather.   A beautiful, handmade quilt thrown over a leather sofa could be the centerpiece of your living room. Accessories - Since the western style is very textured, large accessories are more appropriate than collections of tiny objects. Western motifs are central to Western style décor.  Motifs like cowboys, cattle, deer, bear, horses, moose, pinecones, fishing, and hunting are found in abundance.  Native American motifs and weaving patterns are important in western style décor.   Antlers, snowshoes, antique skis, big baskets of pinecones, and even old wooden boats can be used.  Iron and metal pieces fit well into a Western room.  You might find iron lamp bases, candle holders, chandeliers, and firescreens right here on Design Style Guide.  Search for metal.

Fabrics - Fabric types are usually tough, textured, and tacile.  Think old blankets with Native American motif. Fabrics like leather, suede, wool tweeds, denim, saddle blankets, mate woven rugs, animal hides, and fur are commonly used.

Motifs - Western motifs are central to Western style décor.  Motifs like cowboys, cattle, deer, bear, horses, moose, pinecones, fishing, and hunting are found in abundance in western theme décor.  Native American motifs and weaving patterns are important in western style décor.

Safari Theme Decor

Safari themed décor is a blend of African influence and European Old World style.  With its abstract and organic works of art, combined with rugged timber furnishings and fine fabrics, this style creates a comfortable blend of the natural along with the luxurious.

While safari style is a often used in decorating a bedroom or living room, the safari theme is also a very popular nursery theme because it is so versatile. Furniture - Typical furniture is rugged timber, rattan or bamboo.

Accessories - Safari décor calls for large accent pieces rather than smaller ones. Decorating with monkeys, elephants, lions and zebras accessories is one option in creating a jungle atmosphere. Another option to is use wooden accessories, like wooden bowls, masks, drums or spear to accessorize.  Leather trunks, stained glass bottles and lots of leafy plants will complete you room. 

Fabrics - Safari style furniture is often adorned with various different animal hides, including leather, leopard spots, zebra stripes or tiger skin.  Colorful, patterned African fabrics are used on pillows, bed spreads and even serve as wall hangings. Traditional hand-painted fabrics, woven wools and cotton textiles serve to complete an impressive look.

Beach Theme Decor
