| Hello! I'm Melanie of The Creators Palette. I am a wife, mother and Artist. I create a variety of original artwork - from large stretched canvas', ready to hang, to small miniature art perfect for the side table or bookshelf.
My favorite medium is watercolor, though I love to play with all kinds of surfaces for my paintings, including watercolor canvas, Yupo and others. I also create in Oil Pastel, collage, and I have a Jewelry shop on Etsy as well as my art shop.
I am very contact friendly and often take commissions. You can see some of my commissioned work on my website.
Most of my work comes unmatted and unframed, though I am always willing to help in this area if needed.
I package my art well and ship all pieces larger than 4"x6" Priority Mail with insurance. Smaller pieces are posted first class. International shipping is always available, but may cost a bit extra - especially if you want insurance.
I am a self-taught artist, though I began with a solid foundation of training in drawing and colored pencil in collage. I still study and learn and am always working to improve.
Though always artistic, my art has not always been visual art! I was a very active person who loved movement arts. With my degree in Early Childhood development, I was the founder of the Children's Division Creative Dance program at Vancouver's Columbia Dance. I also spend many years in their annual "Nutcracker Ballet". In my younger years I was a diver, a gymnast, a garden designer, a motivational speaker with very artistic visual presentations, and I am a published author.
Why visual arts now? I have been struck with a disabling chronic illness (3 actually) and this has changed my life. But determined for it not to ruin my life, I began to pursue my visual arts and completely fell in love with watercolor.
I love the adventure of every new painting. The dance between pigment and water is always a thrill. It also provided me with an artistic outlet - even while housebound!
I live my life by two principles: Love God and Love Others. Nothing can stop me from pursuing these, and as I have changed my focus from activity to painting, I find that both of these are fulfilled in through my painting.
Thank you for visiting me here at Design Style Guide. I look forward to working with all my new clients here! |
